I intend to be softer when disciplining my daughter and ask her what she thinks, rather than just order her about

I want to learn how to be consistent in firmness and warmth

I want to plan for the future, not just let it happen to me

Absolutely loved it!!! Tutors were fantastic, they really got points across in laymen’s terms so it was easy to grasp and put what you learned into practice.

I found the money part really useful. I copied the spending record and use it all the time.
I really found the course both helpful and enjoyable. Before I came on I was worried I’d be embarrassed but it has been really good and I’ve learned a lot about me and my partner.

It helped us a lot. It was just good to be able to give time to talking about things together, like how we spend our money and things that are really important.
We are much better now at working through problems, we have learned to discuss things far more.

The work carried out to maintain relationships between prisoners and their families in the Time for Families workshops was impressive and had clearly benefited those who had participated in this scheme.

I believe Time for Families provides young people with the opportunity to find common ground with their parents in a non-threatening environment.

I now understand the impact my absence makes on my entire family. The whole exercise has bonded us together.

There’s still a bit of an issue around trust but we are definitelygetting through it and getting stronger all the time.

We don’t try to pick fights as much now, we recognize the scoring points in it and avoid that.
I think this course is very valuable to anyone in a relationship and specifically when people are in difficult situations like having a partner in jail. I think it can really help anyone’s relationship.

I must recognise the sensitive way your workers operate. By being aware of security and regime issues, they have become accepted by operational grades whilst not diluting the requirements of the course.

I’ve seen prisoners who you’ve worked with go on to form improved relationships with prison staff in general. You help humanise both staff and prisoners.

It makes my prison a happier place

Time for Families has become a special part of the landscape at High Down. From my perspective as Governor, it provides one of the few ways in which we can help the partners of prisoners to get practically involved in effective resettlement.
